Cambridgeshire-based KeCo Food Service Packaging was looking for a solution to improve the efficiency of its waste recovery system, with a view to minimising manual handling and reducing labour costs.
The company, which creates and supplies food packaging solutions, specialising in convenience food, produces a large amount of waste card and plastic materials which needed to be removed from the site as effectively as possible.
Having previously worked together, KeCo approached Casepak and tasked the team with providing a new outlook to the company’s waste and recycling processes.
Following a complete review, part of Casepak’s solution was to install a complete waste extraction on-site. This included a Thetford T2 Compactor, a baler and a compaction container for the collection and removal of waste card and plastic materials.
With new equipment installed, Casepak also provided KeCo with four 1,100 litre wheelie bins to make the collection of waste easier.
The extraction system that was put in place helped to create a more manageable waste disposal solution, allowing material to be handled much more simply and efficiently.
Recyclables are then collected by Casepak and delivered and sorted at its Collections and Processing Facility in Enderby.
Casepak’s tailored approach to recycling solutions helped to improve the overall efficiency of KeCo’s day-to-day operations. Not only has the new plan helped to reduce manual handling, but it has also helped to save space and money.
Jamie Kearns, Director at KeCo, said: “Although we are a new start-up business, we have been using Casepak’s services for our waste control over the past 20 years through other businesses, and have a great relationship with them. In our opinion, they are the industry leaders and provide a first class solution for our business.
“With Casepak, we’ve always found that everything is straight forward. From initial discussions through to quick, efficient and quality installation, the Casepak team are excellent at offering great service. Casepak is a great company to work with.
“We are already starting to see the benefits of installing the solution. Departmental output figures have increased by 40 per cent and manual handling has diminished.”
Vikki Brown, Casepak’s Business Development Executive, commented: “Having previously worked alongside members of KeCo’s staff, we were in a good position to design and deliver a bespoke waste management solution for their new venture. KeCo choosing to continue this relationship is testament to the hard work and dedication put in by our team and we look forward to working with KeCo for many years to come.”
