Community engagement – happy operations

Casepak is committed to community engagement and it plays an extremely important part in the successful operation of our MRF.

Last year we set up the Casepak Community Liaison Panel (CLP) as an example of best practice and in response to interest expressed by the local community. The panel is formed of people living in close proximity to the MRF, representatives from the Environment Agency and members from the environmental department of Blaby District Council. The panel ensures effective dialogue between Casepak and the local community.

When we launched the CLP last year, we invited all of its members along with MP, the Rt. Hon Stephen Dorrell, to visit the MRF to see the processes and workings of the facility first-hand.

We’re pleased to say that the CLP is working incredibly well and we’ve held meetings once a month since October. Holding meetings with all parties has proved to be helpful and constructive, with any issues raised dealt with collectively. Going forward, meetings are likely to be held once a quarter. In addition, we’ve set up a dedicated telephone hotline for people to call should they have any queries.

Casepak considers that communications with the CLP have been highly valuable. Although there is no obligation for us to operate a panel, it’s always useful to hear local opinions and it re-enforces the fact we are a considerate neighbour and want to do good by our local community.
