Casepak appoints new Director Kevin Thomas

Casepak, the fast growing recycling and waste management company, which is to open its new Leicester Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) later this year, has appointed new Director Kevin Thomas to oversee the development and operation of the new £21 million plant.

Kevin has more than 20 years’ experience in the waste management industry and joins the company from his role as Business Development Director at SCA Recycling UK where he was instrumental in the development of the company’s Southampton MRF. Prior to SCA Recycling, Kevin owned and ran his own recycling and waste management consultancy company, as well as spending time in senior operational roles with Biffa Waste Services and with SCA Recycling in the Netherlands.

As Director – MRF Operations at Casepak, Kevin will be responsible for the strategic business development of the new facility, recruiting key team members, overseeing the installation and commissioning of plant, and leading new waste contract bid teams. He will also provide direction on the development of Casepak’s new waste technology solutions.

On joining the Casepak team, Kevin said: “Recycling has never been as much of a priority on the political agenda as it currently is today. Councils are under growing pressure to meet landfill diversion targets and have the arduous task of consistently trying to improve upon current recycling rates; it’s a similar story for commercial organisations whose recycling activities are increasingly coming under closer scrutiny.

“Casepak is a company which can deliver a first class service to help local authorities and businesses alike recover waste efficiently, whilst also helping them to reduce costs. The new MRF is centrally located and has the latest optical sorting technology, which will make it a very real proposition for those seeking to improve both their waste diversion and recycling performances.

“I’m really excited to be part of Casepak’s growing team – it really is the start of a new chapter in the company’s development programme.”

Commenting on the appointment Mark Smith, Joint Managing Director at Casepak, said: “I am delighted that Kevin has joined Casepak. His recent experience in launching and managing a major multi-material recycling plant is exactly what we need. We’re really pleased to have him join the Casepak team at this important stage in the company’s development.”
